Kimberley’s 25th Birthday Gift Card Book – A Shopping Spree of Cards!

A few years ago, my daughter Kimberley, turned 25. I wanted to make the quarter of a century birthday special!  She hadn’t lived at home for several years (the college years) and was newly married. Kimberley and Clint’s apartment cabinets and closets were at capacity as they were blessed with a lot of wedding gifts!

A favorite gift both my kids loved growing up; a shopping spree!  Dave and I thought – gift cards! Let her go and pick out what she wanted. What she still needed for their new home together. Plus, cards for some of her favorite treats!

I didn’t want to just give her gift cards in a birthday card. I am a scrapbooker, after all. I gotta come up with something different! Here is the gift we gave her…..

I bought a small spiral bound book at the dollar store. Using scraps, ribbon and embellishments I transformed the little book into a 25 page

25 – $5 Gift Cards

The gift card book is a fun gift for birthday’s and Christmas! Fill the book with gift cards to the recipients favorite places to shop, eat and anywhere they would love to spend money! The value of each card is up to you!

I told a friend about the book, which prompted me to write this post. Her parents were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. She made a book of (10) $5.00 gift cards for $50 to go with the 50th theme.

Gift Card BookI divided the book into 25 sections, so 5 pages of paper are put together between each of my pages, making the pages sturdy to hold the weight of the gift card.
Each page represents one year of her life – 1,2,3 etc.
A picture of her at each age and a gift card.
Kimberley’s first birthday – she loved her cake!
At age two she was more excited about the
box the present was in than the actual gift.
Oh, the pony tail days.
I made the ribbons and embellishments hang over the edge of the pages.
Kimberley has always had a sense of style. A real trend setter!
Don’t you remember the Frisbee hat? Yeah, Kimberley started that hot trend!
The first four gift cards were to Wal-Mart
Kimberley was 3 1/2 when her baby brother, Bobby was born.
This is a rare picture of Kimberley and Bobby in matching outfits.
And these were for my Aunt’s wedding who married on 4th of July.
I used glue dots to hold the gift cards onto the pages; easy to remove to redeem.
One of Kimberley’s favorite teachers, Mrs. McBride, her first grade teacher.
End of the year teacher gift. Back in the days when I did cross stitch.
I used my tape gun to adhere an embellishment to make the
page appear larger and tied a ribbon in a bow.
One of my favorite school pictures.
Kimberley took tap and jazz dance for years!
At the end of each year there was a big dance recital.
This was the “Arabian Nights” year. The costumes were
quite pricey, so to get our monies worth, Kimberley often
wore the dance recital costume as her halloween costume.
9th Birthday party was a sleepover. The girls made matching Tshirts.
Don’t worry about the gift cards hanging over the pages too.
All the “stuff” hanging over the edges makes the book fun!
For Kimberley’s 10th Birthday we had a
Mother – Daughter session at
Glamour Shots.
Yes, she really is ONLY ten in this photo!
Most of the photos I used were from the “unused” stash of photos
that didn’t make it into my scrapbooks.
I wanted the photos to capture different parts of the first 25 years
of Kimberley’s life. Dance. Christmas. Our family vacations to Disneyland.
The next eight gift cards were to TARGET.
Kimberley love Target!
Of course, I thousands of photos taken at our favorite family vacation place:
Kimberley and Lacey; the first person Kimberley held at birth
and has watched her grow up. Lacey was a bridesmaid in Kimberley’s wedding.
We celebrated Kimberley’s 15th birthday on our first cruise to Mexico.
